God at the Speed of Light
Published in Paperback by A.R.E. Press (25 February, 2002)
Authors: T. Lee, MD Baumann and T. Lee Baumann
Average review score:

Great spiritual education book for a lay person
For a lay person, this book represents a great introduction into the world of spirituality/physics. Indulge yourself for an experience into the realm of photonics and its relation to a higher intelligence in the universe.

Great read & good mind stretcher!
Valuable for anyone interested in theology, physics, or both. Dr. Baumann's book is cogently written, with excellent endnotes/references for all chapters. The author convincingly and eruditely presents how quantum physics (among other areas of modern science) supports many spiritual beliefs/concepts pertaining to the afterlife, nature of the universe, multiple dimensions, etc. Likewise, he challenges our ideas of what we might conventionally perceive as "reality" with various plausible theories of existance based on the latest revelations in quantum mechanics, cosmology, the natural sciences, etc.

Even if you don't agree with all of its ideas/conclusions (the author certainly doesn't jam them down your throat), this book is most worthwhile to provoke thought, and it just might inspire you to further pursue such studies on your own.

I most heartily recommend this book!

Very Interesting Idea
Dr. Baumann's idea is a very unique one and God at the Speed of Light will get anyone thinking about the complex universe that we live in. This book is for anyone who is interested in the science vs. religion argument! Plus you don't have to be an astrophysicist to read it. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to broaden their horizons!

The Gods Underground
Published in Paperback by Innes Books (07 September, 2000)
Author: Tom Lee
Average review score:

I want more
Remember the last time you picked up a book and couldn't put it down, stayed up all night reading it and ended up calling in "sick" at work the next day? That happened to me reading this book. My only question is where is Tom Lee, why have I never heard of him, and where is his other stuff????

This is a Great Thriller!
When I received this book and started reading it, I could not put it down! I usually don't go in for tech-thrillers, but this one kept me turning the pages. Although there is a lot of technical & technological references Tom Lee kept them simple enough for anyone to follow. This was one book that I could not figure out who was behind what at any time. When I thought I knew, I was wrong. I highly recommend this book.

A riveting read from first page to last!
The Space Shuttle Challenger tragedy was no accident. Roger Howard, a newly appointed UCLA professor buys a pile of computer disk drives for his class in data recovery. As his students begin to recover the data concerning an obscure U.S. government project codenamed Project Z, one of them is murdered. Now an unknown someone seeks to have a decades old secret preserved through the permanent removal of an ordinary college teacher. But Roger Howard would refuse to become an easy target. The Gods Underground document Tom Lee as a gifted storyteller and an author of considerable skill and accomplishment. This mystery thriller is a riveting read from first page to last! Tom Lee is an author to keep track of!

The Good Luck Cat
Published in School & Library Binding by Harcourt Children's Books (April, 2000)
Authors: Paul Lee and Joy Harjo
Average review score:

beautiful, simple reading experience with my child
Joy Harjo tells this story in a simply beautiful way. Wrapped in this cover are emotions and experiences that my daughter and I can joyfully follow together. I'm always glad when my child selects this as one of her bedtime stories.

Excellent picture book
This story is a touching tale of pet ownership. The unnamed narrator shares her love for Woogie (the cat) with the reader, and expresses (in both words and pictures) a very real relationship between a child and a pet.

This story is sweet without being saccharine; emotional without being overly sentimental. Harjo's gift for poetry shows in the simple but expressive text ("My dad watched Woogie's seventh life fly by him as she ran after it"), and the warm paintings show the cat's expressions in a very real way.

A great book for cat fans!
According to Aunt Shelly, Woogie is a good luck cat, and he certainly proves it by surviving one scrape after another. But when he doesn't come home, we wonder if this good luck cat's luck has run out. This is a light, charming celebration of a young girl's friendship with a cat. And it's -- at last! -- a children's picture book featuring Native American characters where culture isn't the main theme. Of course, it's great to have accurate books that touch on Indian themes; however, they should be balanced with delightful stories like this one that depict daily life. Harjo's writing -- as always -- is wonderful and Paul Lee's lovely illustrations really capture feline personality.

Grateful Dead Family Album
Published in Paperback by DIANE Publishing Co (January, 1989)
Author: Jerilyn Lee Brandelius
Average review score:

truly grateful reader
This album is a detailed and complete record of the beautiful happenings inspired and led by the Dead. A must-have for those who admire and respect the musical magic of the band.

A BOOK FOR SERIOUS DEADHEADS!
As a long time fan of the Grateful Dead, I have not have read such a book. This book has rare photos and quotes given by the band members and other friends and musicians, spanning from their Haight Ashbury era, the Kool Aid Acid Tests, throughout the 70s and 80s, and the early 90s. Also, on the grayer side of things, tributes to musicians like Janis Joplin and one time organist Ron "Pigpen"Mc Kernan were written, respectively: which is sad, but good reading material. I would say more, but I think that it would be better if anyone who has appreciation for 60s classic rock or for the Dead especially should try this book out for themselves, since there are a LOT more thing in this book than I just said. Like I said, this book is for serious fans of the Grateful Dead.

family album a hit!
The Grateful Dead Family Album by Jerilyn Lee Brandelius is the ideal book for anyone who loves the musical heaven, and cultural influences that the grateful dead brought us. You open the pages into a vivid world that shows how amazing this era was. There are thousands of pictures in this book: wavy gravy; mickey hart; phil lesh; JERRY GARCIA; stanley mouse; rock; mountain girl; bill legate, and hundreds of other recognizable faces. Jerilyn Brandelius writes short paragraphs telling stories of these great times, the causes the Dead supported, the concerts they threw, there tours around the world, and many more stories. This is a book that anybody who loved this era and the Grateful Dead, MUST HAVE!

Gravity Golf: The Evolution & Revolution of Golf Instruction
Published in Hardcover by Gravity Sports Concepts Inc (February, 1995)
Authors: David C. Lee and Karen Anderson
Average review score:

Gravity Golf really works!
Gravity Golf really works!

This book is chock-full of information on the most energy-efficent way to swing a golf club. I've read this book many, many times and the more you read it and do the practice drills, the more you will understand the information that David Lee presents. Also, the video tapes that Lee sells from his infomercials and web site are helpful in understanding the training system.

Ernie Els and Fred Couples are "pure gravity" players. Many, many of the other top money winners on the PGA Tour are graviy players too. The problem is that most of these first-class golfers know how to swing using the Gravity Golf "mechanisim", but these golfers have difficulty explaining how they hit the golf ball so far and straight with so little effort using this mechainism. David Lee has developed the traing system to learn how to swing like Els and Couples.

This book must be re-read many, many times in conjunction with the practice drills. The video tapes that David Lee sells are helpful too. The best of all, go to a Gravity Golf school. Then, read and re-read the book and the Gravity Golf system will become crystal clear.

I belive that twenty years from now, this teaching methodology will be the "industry standard" way that golfers will trained--novice to Tour caliber. Many "copy-cat" golf instructors have already adopted many of the teaching techniques originally developed by David Lee.

Be prepared to allocate the time to hit many practice balls. Golf will become fun and practice, using the drills, will become informative. You will learn how and why good shots happen and why bad shots happen. The Gravity Golf system is not an instant miricle, but it is the "real thing", when it comes to the golf swing.

I am a Gravity Golf believer!

The Nicklaus Swing for Dummies
If you read Jack Nicklaus' books about his swing technique and didn't quite get it, take a look at Gravity Golf. It clarifies Jack's ambiguities beautifully and fills in a lot of the physics in laymen's terms. Best of all are the 4 enormously effective practice drills for getting your subconsious brain to "program" the correct swing for you. It's almost creepy...suddenly after a couple 1-foot and 1-arm practice sessions you can magically do the regular swing correctly. My main swing thought nowadays is "don't think". You'll be astounded how little effort it takes to hit the ball 250+ yards with this swing. (One caveat: The first 3 chapters are a tad lame. Don't give up on it without reading chapters 4, 5, and 6 where the gold is.)

Gravity Golf is indeed effortless
Reading about and visualizing the type of mechanics that David describes is the fresh approach to a solid and consistent golf swing that everyone needs. His approach to the components of the golf swing are truly amazing, and the simplicity with which they can be executed is even more amazing.

Great Swan: Meetings With Ramakrishna (Shambhala Dragon Editions)

Bonding
Lex Hixon's words float in the reader's mind like clear, sweet water. Hixon is not a philosopher or theologian. He is a lover. His words melt into the heart and rise one's level of awareness into a state of ecstatic bliss. Read this book and discover the Ramakrishna that Lex Hixon knew and loved. The Ramakrishna who believed all religions were ultimately guided by the same Godhead.

The Essence of the Divine
In this amazing book, Lex Hixon takes on the formidable task of trying to anticipate questions, thoughts and feelings that a reader may have on Spiritual Development/God Realisation and makes it a part of the Encounters of Sri Ramakrishna. It does not matter whether one has heard or read of Sri Ramakrishna before, Lex Hixon makes us aware of his presence nad grace in every page of the book. A very rare and enlightening book. Like a blessing.

One of the SWEETEST teachers around...
Ramakrishna was a heart so huge he envelops you directly off the page so beautifully conveyed by Lex Hixon. I got chills of sweetness from the passages directly quoted from this jewel of a human being....

The Handybook for Genealogists : United States of America (10th Edition)
Published in Hardcover by F&W Publications (December, 2002)
Authors: Everton Publishers, Holly T. Hansen, A. Lee Everton, and George B. Everton
Average review score:

How did I get along for so long without it?
I love this book; it is a wealth of information that is not easily found anywhere else! Unfortunately, I am in the middle of a move and my copy is packed away in storage. If you spend long hours pouring over family history details, buy this book.

Superb Reference Book for Finding Information Sources
This is an absolutely wonderful sourcebook for working with various governent records (Federal, state, and county) for geneology. It tells you very precisely what type of records are available over what time for individual jusrisdictions. It is really quite amazing, for example, to find out the specific years that land title information is available for a specific county. The book is a treasure trove, in that it gives you all of the contact information you need to get in touch with various information sources.

Just an amazing book! This is a great book to have.

At least 20 times a week I refer to the HANDYBOOK!
Walter M. Everton was the first compiler of the original edition HANDYBOOK in 1945. This reference book lists each state and all counties that ever existed there with details including:

Name, map index reference number, date created, population per latest census, dates US Census Reports available, parent county or territory from which organized, county seat including zip code (for requesting copies of documents),

As an example, I learned that Carroll County, MD, created in 1837 from Baltimore and Frederick Counties. It's county seat is Westminister, zip code 21157. The Clerk of the Circuit Court has the marriage records from 1837-1900 not indexed, from 1900 indexed, divorce, civil court and land records from 1837.

Reading about the state of Maryland as a whole, I learned that the Division of Vital Records and Statistics, Department of Health located at 201 West Preston Street, Baltimore, MD 21201 issues copies of birth, marriage and death records. Birth records begin 1898. Marriage records begin 1 June 1951. Wills are in the register of wills for each county.

There are also listings of genealogical archives, libraries, societies and publications, along with dates for each available census index.

The line drawings of each state with current counties might be useful to illustrate a family's location in the area for your family history notebooks.

From their advertising circular: "Information that researchers need for America includes records available in each county, current information includes: address and telephone numbers for country clerks, 56 color maps of each state and trails! 124 emigration trail descriptions. Illustrates rivers and lakes.

I wouldn't steer you wrong of this one! The first genealogy research book I every bought was an earlier edition! Now, I consider it money well spent. Even though I am gifted with numerous genealogy books to review, I'd still pay for a copy of this excellent reference work!

Healing the Addictive Mind
Published in Paperback by Celestial Arts (April, 1991)
Author: Lee L. Jampolsky
Average review score:

Healing!
As a minister, and a student of A Course in Miracles since 1994, I found this book very inspiring and helpful in uncovering all that is addiction. It is not what you think. We used this book in early 2003 as a basis of study for our study group. The entire group received so much insight into their own addictive patterns and many were able to release so much to the Light and Love of God.

OUTSTANDING!
I read an excerpt from this book at an on-line site. I ordered the book. I started reading it the same night I received it. I thought I would only read a few pages. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. The questions/situations Dr. Jampolsky posed was me. It was like looking in a mirror. The book offers lots of life situations/problems, and wonderful suggestions to solve them. This book was a "mind" saver for me. And I like the other reviewer, use it as my Bible.

Healing the Addictive Mind - A MUST READ.
When I found this book, I was involved in a dysfunctional relationship (the latest of many) with a man who had severe drug problems and no inclination to give them away. Like me he was in pain, although neither of us really understood the full implication of this, and drugs were his way to escape. I read the back cover of the book, and what I read told me I could help him by curing his substance addiction. I would never have bought it to help myself. I felt beyond help! My escape was focussing on his problem!

I bought the book, took it home to read and had the shock of my life! This book wasn't about drugs, it was about me!! I cried like I would never stop, but with a strange sense of relief underlying the pain of having all my hurtful thought patterns thrown before me. It wasn't just me, someone else KNEW! Then I began scribbling my interpretations into the margins, and being more honest with/about myself with the guidance of this book than ever before.

Since then, I have loaned the book to as many people who will read it, read it and re read it and updated my feelings in the margins. It reminds me who I am and where I am going, and it has become in a sense my Bible! I still get scared about what life holds for me, but this bit of fortification makes it that much easier to carry on - an in the way i NEED to, not that which has become habit.

I am not one for reading self help books, as they all state the obvious and tell me nothing, or confuse me with in depth theories. This book is different. It is very easy to read, very easily understood... it just makes sense. If I were able, I would buy a copy of this book for everyone! It should be standard issue.

I found this site looking for more information on Lee Jampolsky. I admire his insight, am so grateful for his huge contribution to my life and only wish I was able to thank him in some way. It takes a very short time to read this book, I do suggest you at least look at it. What I believe you will gain will be far greater than anything else you could do in the time you take to explore this book.

Share your smiles with anyone, but never rely on anyone for them.

Alison.

The Healthful Gourmet Chinese Cookbook
Published in Paperback by H.P. Books (January, 1999)
Author: Rose Lee
Average review score:

Absolutely Amazing!
The recipes are easy to follow... The food is excellent and very tasty- you would never know it's actually good for you. Better than any Chinese take-out.

Great Chinese recipes!
This is a great cookbook for anyone that wants to make authentic Chinese food in their own home. Oh yeah...it's also supposed to be low fat...you wouldn't know it from tasting the food! (That's a good thing.)

These recipes are great. Very innovative and healthy.
This book is a compendium of both great chinese dishes that have been re-created to minimize fat content, and innovative new dishes. My doctor is happy with my cholesterol drop, and I love the taste and texture of these dishes. The glossary, units conversion, low fat cooking methods, and nutrition notes sections are really helpful. Everyone that cooks should have a copy of this book. I have not seen any other books that compare to it. My hat's off to the author.
